Campus Technician - Technology

Primary Purpose:

Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications at an assigned campus. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network, audio visual, and computer hardware and software issues. Work closely with District Technicians and other Technology personnel to identify and resolve issues.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Google Level 1 (required or to be achieved within the first year of employment)

Google Level 2 (preferred)

A+ Certified (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent Customer Service skills

Knowledge of Windows, Apple, and Chrome computer operating systems

Knowledge of computer installation and setup

Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications

Basic knowledge of networking principles

Basic knowledge of telecommunications (telephony) principles

Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals, including but not limited to printers, hand held devices, scanners, etc.

Ability to troubleshoot and maintain network cabling and equipment

Experience:

One year work experience (preferred) installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals in a K-12 environment or equivalent experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Installation

1. Install, relocate, and upgrade computers and peripherals.

2. Install network cabling and assist with troubleshooting networking equipment.

3. Install and configure software as needed.

4. Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data and telecom communications circuits and equipment.

Equipment Repair and Maintenance

5. Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, Chromebooks, laptops, tablets, and desktops.

6. Assist with servicing physical security and communications equipment.

7. Maintain and create technical documentation as required.

8. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

9. Maintain accurate inventory of all computing and presentation equipment on the campus and rectify/update on a regular schedule.

10. Assist with setup of Audio and Video equipment in large space venues as needed.

11. Provide Technical support for school events as scheduled by the campus or other departments.

12. Configure and adjust bell schedule for campuses and adjust schedule when necessary.

Safety

13. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.

14. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying.

15. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.

Other

16. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

17. Duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Support Services.

Equipment Used:

Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs. Additional equipment may include, but is not limited to personal computers, and peripherals.

Lifting:

Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); may require heavy lifting (45 pounds or more)

Occasional prolonged and irregular hours may be required

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
