General Description:

The Quality Assurance Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. This position requires a keen understanding of quality systems and operations, with a strong background in defense related prime contractor requirements. A high level of technical, organizational, and communication skills is required. The Quality Assurance Engineer shall ensure that product quality in assigned areas is maintained at or above desired. Continuous Improvement tools shall be used to drive ongoing improvement to product and business process.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide Quality Engineering support to assigned products/areasPerform quality readiness functions on customer contractsPerform supplier purchase order reviewDevelop quality planning and proceduresDevelop and enhance non-conforming material control systemFunction as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned portions of overall QMSEducation and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED is requiredBachelor degree in a technical or management field is preferredA minimum of five (5) yrs experience with quality engineering functions ORA minimum of two (2) yrs practical experience in quality assurance and successful completion of a Quality certification program (e.g. – ASQ CQT or CQE certification)High level of computer proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation softwareWorking knowledge of ISO and other global quality specifications (e.g. – AS9100, ISO-9001, ISO-13485, IATF 16949, etc)Good understanding and ability to apply statistical techniquesVisual acuity equal to Jaeger 1 minimum, either corrected or uncorrectedSpecial Tasks and Focus Areas:

Provide Quality Engineering support to assigned products/areasDevelop statistical techniques and chart trends for manufactured productDevelop First Article Inspections Reports (FAIR), and plansDevelop quality assurance processes in support of AS9100 requirementsReview and revise inspections procedures (including data sheets)Develop test methods and inspection techniquesInitiate purchase orders for outside special testing servicesComplete customer survey and evaluation forms for QA related sectionsInteract with other departments to develop quality standardsDevelop and revise company operating procedures as neededPerform process and stamp control auditsPrepare, review, and approve submissions to Customers (e.g. – SSR, VRMR, etc)Lead and/or assist during customer quality auditsRepresent Quality Assurance during internal auditsProvide technical training to personnelAttend job start-up and shut-down meetings

Perform quality readiness functions on customer contractsReview incoming customer contracts (new and existing programs) to identify potential issuesReview/revise quality procedures for adequacy to REDAR and customer requirements (including data sheets)Review product specifications to identify potential issues impacting our ability to comply

Perform supplier purchase order reviewApply purchase order provisions to requisitionsReview and approve suppliers for Approved Vendors List (AVL) statusDevelop receiving characteristics and quick inspectionsReview and approve Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and responses

Develop and enhance non-conforming material control systemGenerate and enhance systems for tracking and evaluating product discrepanciesDevelop systems for handling and tracking customer returnsCoordinate and respond to customer corrective action requestsIssue, track, and approve Quality Assurance corrective actionsLead Non-Conformance Review Board (NCRB) meetingsAnalyze and report on Quality Assurance databasesTrack QA-related discrepancies and escapes

Develop, enhance, and maintain the calibration database systemDetermine the set-up of calibrations cycles for new and existing measurement equipment

Review out of tolerance conditions for product quality impactDetermine QA department equipment needs, and requirementsFunction as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned portions of overall QMSFully understand AS9100 and Customer requirement/expectations

Monitor key metrics for assigned processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement improvement actionsRevise documentation as neededTrain employees in new/revised processes
