SUMMARY As an Applications Engineer with Havtech you will provide technical support for the bidding process through the pricing/estimation of the cost of commercial HVAC equipment. These projects are completed to develop cost estimates in support of our sales team and clients. This position requires a unique combination of attention to detail to ensure pricing is completed accurately, communication skills to ensure the necessary related information is gathered, and problem solving/time management skills to accomplish objectives in a given time frame. This position is a part of the Estimating Department which functions as a team to support our sales team and customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned. Responsible for the cost estimation of HVAC equipment and systems related to assigned bid opportunities. Utilizes information on scope of work and drawings, plans and specifications to estimate all costs. Prepares proposal and pricing break downs while evaluating equipment savings/costs. Assembles bid files, including all development information, in customer relationship management (CRM) system to prepare estimate. Documents work by maintaining files for each job including, but not limited to, internal and external correspondence to mitigate project risk. Uses computer skills to facilitate improvement of estimating systems and selection of software. Develops relationships with represented manufacturers and vendors to gain relevant information. Communicates effectively with contacts related to assigned bids to gather necessary information. Identify customer needs to facilitate proposal and pricing summary generation. Simultaneously handles a diverse number of projects and bid opportunities with associated time-sensitive deadlines, with tact, cooperation and persistence. Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS include the following: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or other related areas. 2 years of experience in the HVAC industry performing estimating projects or related work required. Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred. Must have basic PC experience in Windows environment, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Web-enabled applications and intermediate level experience with Excel. Must possess excellent math aptitude, superior follow-up skills and ability to work well under pressure. Collaborative attitude, thrive in team-based environment while supporting department as an individual contributor. Excellent communication, coordination, and teamwork skills are required.
