Insurance Specialist

to join our team!This full time hybrid remote position will support the Austin Regional Business Office location. Typical work hours will be an 8 hour shift between the hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm. This is a hybrid remote position so the employee will be required to attend occasional meetings and training. This person will need to reside in the Austin region.This position can be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

Performs collection activities such as monitoring delinquent accounts, contacting patients for account payment, resolving billing problems, and answering routine and non-routine account inquiries. Follows standard procedures and pre-established guidelines to complete tasks. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology's Shared Values.Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:Reviews reports, researches and resolves issues.Reviews payment postings for accuracy and to ensure account balances are current.Works with co-workers to resolve insurance payment and billing errors.Contacts third party payors to resolve payor issues, expedite claim processing, and maximize medical claim reimbursement.Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regard to patient records.Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will have the following background and experience:Level 1High School diploma or equivalent required.Minimum two (2) years combined medical billing and payment experience required.Demonstrate knowledge of state, federal, and third party claims processing required.Demonstrate knowledge of state & federal collections guidelines.Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements)Minimum four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience requiredDemonstrate knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology codingLevel Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements)Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferredMinimum two (2) years insurance resolution experience resolving issues with patients and payers as well as four (4) years combined medical billing and payment experience requiredProficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) requiredDemonstrate knowledge of oncology medical codingDemonstrate knowledge of state, federal, and third party claims processing requiredCOMPETENCIESUses Technical and Functional ExperiencePossesses up to date knowledge of the profession and industryAccesses and uses resources when appropriateDemonstrates AdaptabilityHandles day to day work challenges confidentlyIs willing and able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid changeShows resilience in the face of constraints, frustrations, or adversityDemonstrates flexibilityCustomer ServiceDemonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, physicians, patients as well as outside contacts so that productivity and positive employee/patient relations are maximized.Uses Sound JudgmentMakes timely, cost effective, and sound decisionsMakes decisions under conditions of uncertaintyShows Work CommitmentSets high standards of performancePursues aggressive goals and works efficiently to achieve themCommits to QualityEmphasizes the need to deliver quality products and/or servicesDefines standards for quality and evaluates products, processes, and services against those standardsManages qualityImproves efficiencies
