Position Summary:The Physician Assistant serves as an essential member of the patient care team responsible for delivering direct and indirect care utilizing the PA/NP scope of practice. The PA or NP will be responsible for assessing health status, developing and executing interventions collaboratively with the clinical team evaluating patient responses. Duties may be delegated according to the education and practice standard of the team member. A Maine Urgent Care Medical Director be available to assist and/or supervise the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in patient evaluation and management. The PA or NP practices in accordance with CMHs Policies and Procedures and HIPAA.

Essential Duties:1. Serves as the champion of the patient experience2. Engages patients utilizing exceptional customer service practices in alignment with theFive Must Haves;i. Greet people with a smile, friendly eye contact and say helloii. Take people where they are going, rather than point or give directionsiii. Use key words at key times. Is there anything else I can do for you?iv. Foster an attitude of gratitudev. Round with reason3. Perform physical examinations on patients of all ages to include patients medical, family, and social history4. Documents all patient visits in electronic medical record in a timely manner5. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors6. Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis7. Formulates treatment plans within the providers scope of practice8. Implements therapeutic interventions when appropriate9. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic laboratory tests, EKGs and radiological studies10. Enters all orders for treatments and medications to be administered11. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions12. Provides patient education and counseling regarding disease processes, test results, discharge planning, and preventative healthcare13. Makes appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies14. Participates in the quality improvement process to include review of records and treatment plans15. Able to perform all services within the Maine Urgent Care scope of services16. Upholds MUC and CMH Policies and Procedures17. Upholds Urgent Care Association (UCA) regulatory requirements

Education and Experience:1. Unencumbered license to practice as PA or NP in the state of Maine2. PA must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program; NCCPA certified3. NP must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program4. PA must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every six (6) years5. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification required6. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS preferred7. Experience in Occupational Health preferred8. DOT Medical Exam Certification required within 6 months of hire9. Experience in emergency department or urgent care setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:1. Experience and proficiency in interpreting x-rays2. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skill and ability3. Ability to prioritize patients by level of acuity4. Ability to establish and maintain effective patient relationships5. Ability to establish and maintain effective physician and co-workers relationships6. Exceptional verbal and written communication7. Experience working both independently and in team based environments8. Must demonstrate reliability and accountability to team members and patients9. Proficient with computer skills including use of various electronic medical records10. Ability to work under pressure with precision and accuracy and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
