The Henry Ford Medical Group Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is seeking a physician for the role Senior Staff Physician in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. This position includes patient care, teaching, scholarly work, and clinical leadership within the Palliative Medicine Program at Henry Ford Hospital.Highlights:Opportunity to practice at an institution with one of the largest graduate medical education programs in the US and a main teaching site for Wayne State University Medical School and Michigan State College of Human MedicineAn experienced interdisciplinary palliative medicine teamWell-established Palliative Medicine service (started in 2000) and an institutional culture that is highly receptive to palliative medicineOpportunities for work on the inpatient palliative medicine consultative service, inpatient hospice service, community hospice service, palliative medicine ambulatory clinic, and home-based palliative careLeadership opportunitiesDiverse patient populationThe physician will:Serve as an Attending Physician on the interdisciplinary inpatient Palliative Medicine Consultative Service at Henry Ford HospitalSupervise and train medical students, residents, fellows, and other interdisciplinary learners (serving as core clinical faculty for our ACGME- accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program with 2 fellows per year)Participate in scholarly activities in education, quality improvement, and researchBased on interest and skills the physician may:Serve as an attending physician in palliative medicine clinic, inpatient hospice, and/or community hospiceServe as medical director for an innovative home-based palliative care programBecome a facilitator for the innovative communication skills education program, CLEAR ConversationsParticipate in the development/maintenance of hospital-based protocols in pain, symptom management, advance care planning, end-of-life care, and other areas related to palliative medicineQualificationsInitial board certification in a primary specialtyBoard-certification or Board-eligibility in Hospice and Palliative MedicinePalliative Medicine Fellowship training or other comparable experienceMust possess the following personal qualities: Be self-directed; be flexible and committed to the team concept; demonstrates teamwork, initiative and willingness to learn; be open to new learning experiences; accepts and respects diversity without judgment; and demonstrates customer service values.
