Reports to the Practice Manager and works under the supervision of the Physician, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible forensuring patient preparation and supporting the physician with clinical duties.Job FunctionsDiagnosing, treating, evaluating and managing acute and chronic illness and disease (e.g. diabetes, high a blood pressure)a Obtaining medical historiesa Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g., ETT's, Stress Echo's, Myoviews, EKGs)a Prescribing physical therapy and other rehabilitation treatmentsa Prescribing drugs for acute and chronic illness (extent of prescriptive authority varies by state regulations)a Providing care for patients in acute and critical care settingsa Counseling and educating patients on health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment options.a Assist in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.a EKG, Holter application, analysis and downloading to offsite company, and Event monitor applications.a Co-managing congestive heart failure patients & PPM/ICD patientsa Follow up calls to patients with results following physician's evaluation of testsa Seeing both inpatient and outpatientsa Documenting care in a medical recorda Responds to patient calls regarding medical questions and handles accordinglya Maintains inventory of all medical supplies and report to office manager to order as appropriatea Maintains and supports patient's rights to care, privacy and respect.Minimum Qualificationsa- Educationa Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Master's or Doctoral Degreea- Experiencea National board certification, 3+years of individualized care in Cardiac medicineLicensure a- and/or Certificationa Current licensure as nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts requireda National certification with recertification as required every six yearsa ACLS certification requireda BLS Health care provider requireda Must be able to attain and maintain privileges at Emerson Hospital as Nurse Practitioner.a- Skillsa computer skillsa ability to maintain confidential informationa strong interpersonal communication skills on the phone and in persona customer service skills.
