Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking an experienced Patent Paralegal to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group. The successful candidate will be versed in all facets of patent prosecution, including U.S., PCT, non-PCT convention, and national stage filings. This position can be located in our North Carolina or South Carolina offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge and execution of US patent filings via EFSKnowledge and management of foreign patent prosecution and work with foreign agentsReview office actions and other communications from patent offices and reporting same to clientPrepare office action response shells for attorneyPrepare formal documents, forward to client for signature and file with various patent officesMonitoring daily docket and take appropriate steps to clear deadlinesWork closely with docketing staff to ensure all dates are docketedCommunicate with USPTO personnel as needed. Handle and process foreign associate invoicesOther tasks as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of experience with patent docketing and/or prosecution administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience with Intellectual Property filing and prosecution rules and regulationsExperience in patent prosecution and with a focus on filing US and foreign patent documents in a variety of countriesExperience filing patent applicationsMust have the ability to work independently and as part of a team with great attention to detail, interacting with all levels of firm personnel and with clientsAbility to develop and document processes and proceduresAbility to communicate effectively with a variety of foreign associatesStrong knowledge of Windows-based software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; documents management systems, including Worksite (or iManage), docketing systems, such as CPiExcellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to take the initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner while demonstrating professionalismKnowledge of U.S. and foreign procedures and processes relating to patent prosecution and filing patent applicationsExperience working in a law firm environment
