SummaryThe Physician is responsible for all functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. The Physician role is an opportunity for a Pediatrician/PEM Physician to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting. Physicians are responsible for evaluating and providing evidence-based treatment to pediatric patients within their scope of practice under the Medical Directors direct supervision. This position maintains effective working relationships and rapport with patients/families, other physicians, employees, and volunteers.

Description

Assess and treat acute injury and illness; including but not limited to anaphylaxis, procedural anxiolysis, respiratory distress, croup, and asthmaPerform procedural care including but not limited to abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and dermal adhesiveProvide preliminary interpretation of x-rays with official radiology over-readsOversee patient flow and daily functions of the office along with oversight of other providers, staff and trainees on shiftMaintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to the management teamWork in conjunction with the onsite team to assure completion of daily tasks including but not limited to lab and radiology result review, patient follow-up, and timely responses to patient calls and questions. Maintains safe, secure, equitable, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing safety procedures, quality standards, and complying with legal regulationsMaintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential in compliance with HIPAA regulationsUpdate knowledge by participating in continuing education requirements and opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizationsAssist the clinical team and patients with complaints and taking an active role in service recovery when neededFocus on efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, patient experience, and throughputQualifications

Pediatric experience is required; Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospitalist, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience preferredBC/BE in PediatricsActive state license for each state where treating patientsPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within six months of hireSkill in rapid assessment of the critical presentation of the pediatric populationAbility to use sound reasoning and judgment and act calmly in emergenciesAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and nonverballyExcellent computer skills and experience with EMR (eCW experience preferred)Ability to critically think, multitask, and work as a part of a multidisciplinary team
