ResponsibilitiesThe
Risk Management and Loss Control Specialist
will perform surveys to assess moderate to highly complex real estate and hospitality client’s physical exposures. S/he will conduct underwriting loss control surveys and provide risk management recommendations to our insureds. Key functions include but are not limited to:
Performs physical underwriting loss control surveys by accurately assessing the exposures of the operations and controls in place on the property, as well as business operations and management practices of the insured.
Determines potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection and writes technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk as well as a clear articulation of any requirements or recommendations.
Communicates and works directly with the customer on any requirements or recommendations and prepares a written report of findings to be shared and communicated with underwriting partners.
Cultivates and grows partnerships with customers, agents and underwriting to develop ongoing and actionable maintenance plans to positively impact profitability and customer retention.
Conducts training and provides technical expertise for agents, customers, underwriting and Risk Services/Loss Control team members.
Keeps abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes and emerging safety issues and explains to customers how these might impact their operations and what they can do to be proactive in preventing losses.
Actively participates in industry seminars and programs to advance technical knowledge base and incorporate as appropriate into current operations.
Creates a positive work environment between all business unit partners while collaborating to develop and implement strategic goals and objectives supporting enterprise alignment and strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with a preferred emphasis in occupational/industrial safety, agricultural science, engineering, or insurance
8-10 years of in-depth technical experience in risk control disciplines. Emphasis on complex property and sprinkler assessment knowledge highly desired.
CSP, CFPS, CDS, CIH certification desired. Completion of or working toward AINS, AIM, ARM, CPCU or similar professional insurance designation preferred.
Strong customer orientation and interpersonal and communication skills including presentation/training skills, with the ability to mentor and get results through others.
Must possess analysis and problem resolution skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Self-starter with the ability to manage your schedule to meet and exceed production, quality, and time service goals.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; company business systems and various analytical tools to evaluate data.
Ability to travel on a regular basis and work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities.
Valid driver’s license for travel.
