Location:

This is a remote traveling position, Candidate must live near a major airport in the midwest to eastern portion of the United States.

Position Overview:

Crown Food North America is searching for a Manager, Production Engineering to join our team to support operations for the Food Division. This position will work closely with the manufacturing facilities to analyze and solve production issues of major proportion, manage the 2-Piece line and end processes improvements and new technology. The individual will specialize on plant preventative maintenance and repair, tooling, down gaging, plant improvements and swing line operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include the following:

Ensuring safety is a first prioritySenior Manager will lead full-cycle management of engineering projects and engineering teams to include the design, initiate and implement capital improvement projects, bringing them in on time and within budget.Hands-on involvement with project and plant based assignments involving in all aspects of can manufacturing processes.Expectation of Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in many domainsAbility to develop long term strategic plans for processes and equipment issues.Evaluation of existing equipment, processes and facilities to provide direction on CAPEX and Maintenance expenditures in-line with Divisional strategic plans.Involvement with manufacturing line design, re-design, equipment installation, troubleshooting, product line trials and other operations support rolesAnalysis of production problems and assistance in implementing solutions to these problemsProvide training and direction in the start-up of new manufacturing processes, as well as leading plant technical personnel as required to complete equipment installations and start-ups, and lead various in-plant improvement teamsFollow OEM/ Crown Maintenance practicesRecommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within the equipment limitsIdentify production problems, discuss solutions and implement fixesEnsure effective communication between departments and shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules or any other relevant informationWork with Quality personnel and understand control issues a plusApplications of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

Qualifications for success in this role include the following:

Education, Knowledge & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.7+ years’ experience in high speed manufacturing required. Experience in metal packaging and/or food/beverage cans requiredExtensive mechanical abilities and experience with equipment teardowns and rebuildsCertification in Six Sigma (Green, Black or Master Black Belt) desirableExtensive experience leading project teamsSkills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint as well as various CAD software to include MS projectProven problem solving skills and experience using analytical approaches to problemsProject management experienceProven oral and written communication skillsEffective interpersonal and presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completionAbility to work effectively both as an individual and in a team environment using collaborative methodsAbility to travel 80% throughout North America. Some international travel may be requiredMust be committed to ongoing personal training and development
