What You'll Do

Directors of Product Design are responsible for leading and managing a team of 3-8 designers within their area, and for collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure design excellence, user satisfaction, and alignment with business objectives.

In this role, you will be involved with:

Design Leadership:

You are expected to provide visionary leadership in design for your product area. You inspire, mentor, and guide your team, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation. You lead by example and set high standards for design excellence.Strategic Vision:

You have a strong competency in strategic thinking. You will develop and articulate a compelling design vision for your product area, aligning it with the broader product design principles, company mission, and business goals. You consistently raise the bar for design innovation and user experience.Cross-Functional Collaboration:

You drive cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering leaders, and other stakeholders to deeply understand user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints. You ensure that designs are effectively integrated into the products and that they contribute to the achievement of company objectives.Innovation:

A commitment to innovation is crucial. You should stay informed about industry trends, advocate for design thinking, and bring fresh ideas to the products. You infuse creativity and originality into designs to maintain a competitive edge.User-Centered Design:

You champion a user-centric design approach. You hold your team accountable for leveraging user research, usability testing, and feedback to iterate designs and ensure they meet the highest standards of usability and quality.Team Leadership:

You are responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and empowering their design teams. You foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous growth, helping designers develop their skills and careers.Design Quality Assurance:

Maintaining design quality and consistency is crucial. You communicate and uphold design quality standards, ensuring consistency and overseeing the delivery of design excellence in all product interfaces. Ultimately, you are responsible for the quality of the work that ships to customers within their product area.Project Management:

You oversee design project timelines, resource allocation, and priorities. You hold your team accountable for making and meeting commitments and for clear, timely communication when plans change. You ensure the seamless execution of design projects, strategies, and objectives.Stakeholder Communication:

Effective communication with senior leadership and other cross-functional teams is essential. You are adept at conveying design concepts, strategies, and progress to facilitate alignment and understanding.

What You Need to Get the Job Done (Minimum Qualifications)

6+ years of product-based UX design experience working on complex software applications3+ years of dedicated product design leadership experience including hiring, mentoring, and growing a team of designers, and setting the strategic design direction for large, complex product initiativesProven track record of designing successful SaaS-based software products and features from scratch – starting at initial research and discovery, through concept design/iteration, to completed product launch and continued improvementsA portfolio of work that demonstrates effective and innovative high-level design strategy and leadership through design deliverables that communicate the overall design strategy, vision, and framework that align designers, leaders, and stakeholdersWork samples that demonstrate expertise in user research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping/testing, and visual UI designDemonstrated ability to drive design execution and continually ship best-in-class product experience to customers

Schedule

In harmony with team core hours: 9AM-5PM MST, Monday-Friday

Work Environment

Remote, Hybrid, or In-office. Collaborators in various locations with core in Utah
