Payload and Ground Systems Division - Remote Sensing Programs (PGS RSP)

is a strategic partner specializing in delivering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions for classified and unclassified missions in space.

Headquartered in

Linthicum, Maryland,

PGS RSP has offices, manufacturing, and world-class assembly, integration, and test facilities.

We do it all here, on-site, from sensors to payloads to full up spacecraft, supporting Class A to Class D missions.

Our key capabilities include Active RF, Passive RF, and Electro-Optical payloads, space solar power, cross domain missions, and space resilience payloads & solutions.

This position is for a

Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

to join our

Remote Sensing Programs, Systems Engineering Integration and Test (RSP SEIT) team

of qualified, diverse individuals in the Space Systems organization in

Baltimore, MD

. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to support efforts on both concept and product development to deliver key solutions to our customers.

We cover a wide variety of expertise within the systems engineering domain, including CONOPS development, mission engineering, requirements development and management, architecture, modeling and simulation, integration and test, verification and validation, and on-orbit operations and support.

This position will be responsible for the development and ownership of the following Systems Engineering document products and deliverables:

ADDs (Algorithm Description Documents) for Built-in Test (BIT), Telemetry and Fault Management Definitions, Payload Firmware Maintenance, Radar Tasking and Processing (which involves interpreting MATLAB code to descriptive text), and many other functions and processes for text-based documents and models

ICDs (Interface Control Documents) for Hardware, Software, Internal, External, Payload to Bus, etc., for text-based documents and models

TDDs (Test Description Documents) to help plan and document integration events and tests for verification and validation of functional and performance requirements and the modeling required for these products

evel, based on the basic qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer :

BS in Electrical, Computer, Systems or other STEM related degrees with 5 years of experience. Or a MS with 3 years of experience. Or a PhD with 0 years of experience.

Sr Principal Engineer:

BS in Electrical, Computer, Systems or other STEM related degrees with 9 years of experience. Or, a MS with 7 years of experience. Or a PhD with 4 years of experience.

Active DoD Top Secret clearance is required to be considered

Ability to obtain SCI clearance once hired. Some initial work will be unclassified while waiting on a security clearance if not already active, but a TS/SCI clearance will be needed to continue and perform all duties for this position.

Systems engineering experience (e.g., with requirements development and management, ADDs/ICDs/TDDs, modeling and simulation, and/or integration and test)

Ability to read/interpret MATLAB code

Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI clearance

Space and/or space vehicle experience

Sensor/payload experience, especially with RADAR or RF Systems

Signal Processing, especially RADAR processing

Integration and Test for RADAR or RF Systems and/or Space Payloads

Atlassian Tool Suite:

Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence

MATLAB, especially for modeling

Salary Range:

$102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range 2:

$127,000 - $190,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
