The hospital continues to elevate the services provided with the goal of increasing the quality of life for all who entrust St. John's Riverside Hospital to their care.Personalized care together with advanced technology is what it means to be Community StrongResponsibilities:The Gastroenterology nurse practitioner (GI NP) works as a member of our gastroenterology team to help deliver quality care to our patients. The GI NP will practice under the supervision of the GI attending physicians, in a comprehensive GI office and hospital-based practice and assist with procedures, as necessary. The GI NP is involved in the total care of the Hospital gastroenterology patient from admission to discharge and outpatient follow up. They assist with evening and weekend call, as needed.Perform gastroenterology consultations (inpatient)Follow up gastroenterology patients (inpatient and outpatient) Contact patients with lab and test results as needed Performs other related assigned duties.Provide on call coverage Performs unrelated duties in times of emergency. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Possible exposure to patient body substances, with potential/actual infectious diseases. Possible exposure to potentially hazardous materials/conditions, (i.e. noise, chemicals, CRT, electrical equipment, etc.). Exposure to equipment with moving parts and sharp objects.Qualifications:Possession of a current valid license to practice nursing in New York State, Master of Science Degree.Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State with at least one (1) year experience. Gastroenterology experience preferred. Spanish speaking preferred.
