DescriptionPosition Summary:Manage day-to-day materials supply operations of the surgical department and hospital. Promote efficient patient care. Coordinate and participate in purchasing, receiving, storing, distributing and record-keeping activities for the hospital to ensure adequate inventory of required patient care and office supplies, materials and equipment. Manage strategies to ensure optimal level of departmental customer service and communication. Thorough understanding of OR supplies, instruments and implants. Requires experience as a surgical scrub technician. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Functions: Manage day-to-day operation of coordinating hospital supply availability. Participates in purchasing, receiving, storing, distributing and record-keeping activities for the hospital related to materials/supplies. Serve as scrub tech in surgery when needed. Ensures adequate inventory of required patient care and office supplies, materials and equipment. Work collaboratively with medical staff and facility materials management to develop and maintain processes to ensure customer service standards. Serve as resource to enhance revenue, achieve optimal utilization and reduce costs. Maintain timely and effective communication with staff, physicians, and vendors. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained. Establishes business relationships with local and non-local vendors and assures competitive pricing with these entities. Assures compliance to group purchasing organization agreements. Obtains quotes from vendors for new and replacement equipment purchases. Assists other HPI entities in purchasing supplies and equipment. Coordinates trials of new supplies and equipment. Works with biomed to ensure new equipment is properly checked into facility, and broken equipment is repaired utilizing Sprocket. Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.Accountability: Reports to: Director of Surgical Materials Supply with dotted line to System Director of Supply Chain and NWSH Director of Nursing Supervises: None Qualifications: Requires experience as a surgical scrub techHigh School Graduate or equivalent required.Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology preferred.Effectively communicates, both orally and written.BLS healthcare required within 30 days if not currently certified. Required Physical Demands: Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Heavy (Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects) Standing/Walking: F (Frequently; activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) Keyboard/Dexterity: Constantly; activity exists 2/3 or more of the time.
