Summary/Objective

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will perform duties under the direction of the operative surgeon. The CRNA will be able to interpret data with regards to the patient's age specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group.

ANA Standards of Practice.

A. Assessment: the registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.

B. Diagnosis: the registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.

C. Outcomes Identification: the registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.

D. Planning: the registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.

E. Implementation: the registered nurse implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

F. Evaluation: the registered nurse evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.

G. Quality of Practice: the registered nurse systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice..

Under the direction of physician anesthesiologist, evaluates patients to determine an accurate anesthetic plan.Determine and administer the appropriate dosage of anesthesia during procedureComplete records of type and amount of anesthesia, patient condition, patient response and medical historiesAssess patient recovery and removal to another room following surgeryEffectively collaborate with referring physicians and other professionals to provide optimum care for each patientInstitute appropriate nursing interventions that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications.

Required Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthetist program

Required License/Certifications

Current Nurse Anesthetist License and Certification

RN License in the State of Texas

BLS, PALS, and ACLS certification

Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire
