Sr. Automation/Controls Engineer

The Sr. Controls Engineer has numerous years of hands-on manufacturing industry experience who possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures toward the completion of technically complex projects.

Develops, manages, and maintains all O.T. (Operational Technology) applications.

Communicates and educates users on applications, reports, processes, and tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Sr. Automation/Controls Engineer

Works with IT, Engineering, and operations personnel to provide Automation/Controls programming for a state-of-the-art food manufacturing facility.

Interfaces with production operators, maintenance, management, and engineering groups to achieve the best possible solutions to process control problems.

Implements new technology to maximize plant efficiency.

PLC specification and programming, including HMI development.

Specify and apply instrumentation for process application.

Configure and control Variable Frequency Drives.

Control System Programming: SCADA, HMI, and PLC code development to specification.

Lead troubleshooting teams consisting of vendors, electrical engineers, control system programmers, and information system programmers to deliver integrated automation solutions.

Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to successfully deliver fully integrated process equipment systems to JTM's Production organization on-time, on-budget, and that satisfy performance measures.

Optimization of existing industrial database systems.

Maintain expert knowledge of company applications and automated systems.

Serve as support lead for O.T. (Operational Technology) applications.

Maintain familiarity with data used in company processes and systems.

Prepare all required documentation of database structures.

Maintains the integrity of the data in the system.

Assist in training of company personnel on company operation systems.

Assist operations to remediate downtime.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS



Sr. Automation/Controls Engineer

Proven ability to quickly understand technology and conditions, thoroughly analyze complex problems, and effectively assimilate information to reach independent decisions that will resolve issues at hand.

Established subject matter expertise with ability to teach multiple technologies or industry processes.

Significant hands-on experience designing, developing and programming control and information systems for manufacturing applications.

Extensive hands-on field experience implementing, commissioning and troubleshooting control and information systems for manufacturing applications.

High competence with advanced programming and commissioning of complex systems containing industrial controllers, computers and networking equipment across multiple platforms and languages.

Broad knowledge of manufacturing, automation, industrial controls and information systems.

Required Qualifications :

5+ years of experience as a Control Systems Engineer implementing business data solutions.

5+ yrs. experience in HMI programming. Packages include Rockwell Software and Ignition.

5+ yrs. experience in PLC programming. Packages include RS Logix 500, 5000, Studio 5000.

Flexibility to work occasional on-call periods outside normal business hours or on weekend.

Experience with industry standards, methods, platforms, and protocols for network and data security.

Preferred Qualifications :

BS Computer, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree, or related training in process control is preferred.

A combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered.

Experience with workflow processes and systems.

Experience designing, developing, and administering Microsoft SQL Server databases, including, but not limited to:

Defining tables

Creating indices for efficient table usage

Constructing views

Writing stored procedures and functions

Experience with process manufacturing ERP systems.

Experience designing, configuring, and administering virtual infrastructures using VMware.

Experience with OOP languages such as Python, Java, VB.Net, and C#.
