Senior Social Content Editor

The Senior Social Content Editor is responsible for leading the social team on a day to day basis in support of the EP of Editorial- Engagement to ensure consistency of voice and tone across all AJ+ social platforms and overall growth of the AJ+ audience. The Senior Social Content Editor will commission non-video content for the channel’s various social media platforms to drive share ability and conversations around US and world events. This role requires editorial knowledge when reaching to breaking news, creating titles and descriptions and sharing content.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute the tasks assigned by the EP of Editorial Engagement
Develop and distribute social media content across online platforms
Liaise with producers and editors to ensure content is being distributed effectively via social media
Develop new methods of driving audience interaction as directed by the EP of Editorial Engagement
Develop and maintain workflows for analyzing social media trends on a daily basis
Contribute significantly to all major online and editorial social media campaigns
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead coverage of live events on social media, including live tweeting
Take the lead on tracking trends and identify emerging stories on social
Commission complementary content to go with stories such as GIFs, memes, etc
Curate content and create posts that will get high engagement on social
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated
Minimum of 5 years of Media experience is required and
At least 3 years’ experience in online Journalism and
At least 2 years’ experience in social media strategy.
A proven track record of success.
