Lead Backend Engineer

Catio is a pre-seed company funded by top VCs on a bold mission. We are building a cloud architecture platform to democratize the intelligence and know-how for evaluating, planning, and evolving world class cloud native tech stacks, for companies across every corner of the world and across every industry!Catio is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to join our early team of cloud-native tech, engineering, and AI experts and to help us build and scale our platform. Our SaaS offering targets CTOs and Tech Leads as customers, with a focus on enabling them with architecture observability and planning tools, analytics and data-driven insights, as well as recommendations to most effectively plan and improve their cloud-native tech stacks.In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the backend of our platform, with a focus on data pipelines and analytics / ML backends. You will also work closely with our data science and AI teams to build the ML infrastructure required to power our ML capabilities.Responsibilities:

Contribute to the design and development of the backend of our platform as a backend expertFocus on data engineering and building scalable and efficient data pipelines to integrate a wide range of data sources from our customers' tech stacksOrchestrate observability, analytics, and recommendations services applied to evaluating cloud native tech stack architecturesWork with our data science and AI teams to build the ML infrastructure and workflows required to power the AI portion of our platformEnsure the scalability, reliability, and security of our platformHelp lead and mentor the engineering team and contribute to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvementStay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in cloud-native tech and engineering to inform product development and engineering best practices to enable Catio to succeedRequirements:

Exceptional fit for a co-founding engineering role in a start-up funded by top notch VCs, combining excellent aptitude, budding backend leadership, and solid experience, and excited to roll-up your sleeves as an IC to start and help us grow and lead Catio as we scale to fulfill our visionBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from a top-tier university, with a Master's degree as a bonus5+ years of experience in backend engineering with a strong focus on data pipelines and analytics / ML backendsStrong technical background in data engineering, backend infrastructure, observability and analytics offerings, and/or ML infrastructure, with general expertise in distributed systems, modern DevOps and CI/CD approaches, and cloud native platforms and technologiesExpertise with modern backend programming languages and frameworks, at least across Python, Go, Java, and / or other core backend languagesStrong problem-solving, data structures, and algorithm skills and attention to detailExperience with start-ups across seed, Series A, and/or Series B funded companies, with a solid understanding of startup culture and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentIf you are a top-tier backend software engineer with a passion for cloud-native tech and engineering and a track record of building successful data pipelines and cloud-native SaaS backends, we encourage you to apply.You will join an early engineering team lead by industry leading cloud native tech and engineering experts, and applied data scientists and ML engineers, working to build the Catio platform.At Catio, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace, and we welcome applicants of all backgrounds and identities.
