Responsibilities/Duties:Routinely provide anesthesia coverage in the following locations:o Cardiac Surgeryo Thoracic Surgeryo Vascular Surgeryo Structural Heart/Cath LabPossibly provide anesthesia coverage in the following locations:o General Surgeryo Orthopedic Surgeryo Podiatric Surgeryo Ophthalmological Surgeryo Gynecological Surgeryo Plastic Surgeryo Urological Surgeryo Trauma Surgeryo Labor and Delivery AnesthesiaA mix of resident supervision and independent practice8-hour shifts on non-call daysHome call shifts for cardiac only approximately 1:3 weekdays and every 3rd weekendNon-Clinical days available for Core Faculty StaffRequirements:ABA Board Certification or Eligibility; current ACLS, BLS, PALSAdult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology FellowshipCertified in Perioperative Transesophageal EchocardiographyActive CA licenseInterest in teaching and residency educationCompensation:1099 Independent Contractor status$2600 per guaranteed 8-hour shift with hourly compensation after 8 hoursWeekday and Weekend call stipend40 hours per week with 6 weeks of vacation for an estimated $700k annual compensationFlexible scheduling to allow for a desirable work-life balance.Potential to earn more by covering additional shifts.Up to $30k sign-on bonus with a 3-year full-time retentionUp to $100k student loan forgiveness with a 4-year full-time retentionRelocation assistanceAll compensation subject to market rate adjustment on an annual basisOpportunity for a separate faculty/core faculty contract with GMEEducation:Kaweah Health is home to six (6) residency programs: Anesthesiology, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine,Psychiatry, General Surgery, and Transitional Year as well as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
Anesthesiology Residency:Four residents per class.Residents take in-house call every 24 hours.For those interested in a role beyond clinical teaching, faculty positions within the GME areavailable. (Separate contract provided by the GME office)Coaching on working with residents provided to all incoming anesthesiologistsMedical Students and Emergency Medicine residents also rotate with the service.Living in Visalia:Visalia sits in the heart of the Central Valley and is referred to as the Gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.Conveniently located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, approximately 3 hours from each, it is known for its agriculture, it's delicious dining, and its warm and welcoming small-town charm.Visalia offers a unique combination of affordable housing, easy commute to work, a family-friendly community, and economic opportunity.
