Build Reliability Manager

SpaceX, Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States, 32920

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

BUILD RELIABILITY MANAGER, LAUNCH

The Launch Site Build Reliability Manager will be the key advocate for build quality and mission assurance at the launch site by promoting efficient and reliable operational processes. The manager will build and manage a team of engineers and inspectors to partner with Flight Reliability, Launch Reliability, and Launch Operations teams at SpaceX to ensure mission success as SpaceX marches towards manned spaceflight and Mars.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build and mentor a team of engineers focused on ensuring build reliability during launch site processing and refurbishment.

Develop individual team members by enabling opportunities suited to each individual that align with strategic goals of the Build & Flight Reliability and Launch organizations.

Partner with associated reliability organizations (Launch and Flight Reliability) to determine high-risk processes and problems that need additional reliability analysis. Enable engineers to proactively implement improvements to these processes and ensure operational excellence.

Maintain the feedback loop to drive hardware inputs that enable reliable and rapid launch cadences by using data to make the quality landscape transparent and drive prioritization of resolving the most impactful issues.

Allocate Build Reliability Engineers to all launch site areas (launch pad/ground support equipment build and maintenance, F9/Dragon integration and maintenance) to ensure successful day-to-day operations via reviewing work instructions and issue tickets for reliability critical inputs.

Ensure adequate and efficient coverage of Quality Inspectors to all operational areas; ensure inspector skills are adequately defined and developed.

Influence and execute standard hangar/pad practices to create a culture of reliability. Including management of the training/verification of authorized overseers.

Support internal and customer (e.g. AS9100/EELV/etc.) audits of launch organization, including preparation and resolution of findings.
