Job Overview:

The Accounting Manager supervises the accounting activities of the Ministry by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following:

Performs monthly reconciliations & accounting tasks such as: Monthly Subledger Reconciliations Review: Bank, AP, Fixed Asset/Depreciation, P-card monthly report review (limits, use, etc.)Oversees aspects of annual external audit.Updates Balance Sheet Logs and reviews balance sheet transactions.Helps to generate reports for board meetings and management.Ensures monthly financial reports are issued to department leaders in a timely manner.Provides the Finance Director and Comptroller with timely reviews of the organization’s payables status and progress in various activities (such as capital expenditure projects, etc.).Responsible for closing fiscal periods in accounting system.Reviews monthly general ledger transactions for errors.Assists with monthly and annual closing process to ensure deadlines are being met.Spots errors and suggests ways to improve efficiency and spending.Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures.Manages staff accountant and accounting clerks.Participates in financial standards setting and in forecast process.Plans, assigns and reviews staff’s work related to general ledger & reporting.Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.Ensures compliance with GAAP principles.Professional Qualifications:

Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and organizational skills.Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Strong ability to work independently and dive into details with little or no team support.Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.Education And/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.Master's degree in accounting or CPA preferred.A minimum of 5 years experience in the accounting field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience with financial management systems, such as Business Central, Online Banking Platform, etc.Spiritual Qualifications:
