Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Technical Lead I, Surface Mining at our Elko Business Office. The successful candidate will develop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, dumping priorities, etc. to operations and other stakeholders on site and ensure plans are carried out safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:The assignment of duties in short-range planning, long-range planning, dump planning, road design, dispatch engineering and/or other engineering projects as required within the Cortez Engineering groupDevelop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, dumping priorities, etc. to operations and other stakeholders on site and ensure plans are carried out safely and efficientlyAssist in end of month reporting for leach pad deliveries as well as other necessary regulatory reportingWork closely with the mine operations team to execute on designs and plans safely and efficientlyOther duties as assignedQualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
requiredFive (5) to eight (8) years' experience in open pit engineering
preferredExcellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership
requiredTeam leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
requiredAbility to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time
requiredAbility to cross-train within the mining engineering group
requiredDemonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job

Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. The massive mining operation comprises eight mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities and hosts three of Barrick's Tier One assets: Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge.
