Major Gifts Officer

Brooklyn, NY Hybrid - Onsite 4 days a week

Position Overview Be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable access to excellent higher education. As the Major Gifts Officer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 175-200 major gift prospects while being a key figure in the organization's capital campaign working to raise campaign gifts and help to achieve a successful campaign.

Responsibilities Develop appropriate cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects, moving potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle, working independently in initiating contacts with potential donors Solicit gifts and support the solicitations of others Maintain stewardship contacts with donors Make decisions about cultivation time committed vs. expected gift Determine who needs to be involved in relationships with prospective donors Work with appropriate staff members and Institutional Advancement staff in developing donor proposals, acknowledgments, and stewardship materials Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, required 3+ years experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies and soliciting gifts Excellent research, organization, and project management skills An effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of staff Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while multitasking Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors to develop relationships An interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the organization's fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, trustees, volunteers, and the Institutional Advancement department Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Raiser's Edge or similar database system Travel and the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends are required Compensation

Salary: $85,000-$95,000, Commensurate with experience and education Generous Benefits Package
