Location:General Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is always interested in making connections with coaches, even if there is not a current posting that aligns with a coach's expertise. Below, you will find general responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications for coaching at Lakeside School.
ResponsibilitiesCoaches report to the program head of a given sport and/or the director of athletics. The program includes 25 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middleschool counterparts. Coaches are responsible for coaching duties with their team, as well as other program-wide duties as assigned by the program head and/or the director of athletics. Specific responsibilities include:
Compliance with all Lakeside School, league and state policies and proceduresCommitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student athletes.
Requirements and Qualifications
At least 19 years of age, with a clean driving record preferred.Availability for all practices and competitions from 3pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required.Experience coaching a sport at the club, middle school, high school or college level preferred. Assistant coaches can have only playing experience.Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. Candidates will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.
CompensationWe offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons. Other benefits include Lakeside Athletics apparel and access to funds for professional development. Middle SchoolFall: Cross Country, SoccerWinter: BasketballSpring: Track & Field, Ultimate, Volleyball
Two 75-minute practices per week with approximately one competition per week (usually weekends).Stipends range from $1,200 to $2,250 depending on position and experience.
Upper SchoolFall: Crew, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Girls Soccer, Girls Swim & Dive, Boys Ultimate, Girls VolleyballWinter: Basketball, Boys Swim & Dive, WrestlingSpring: Baseball, Crew, Lacrosse, Boys Soccer, Tennis, Track & Field, Girls Ultimate
Practices five to six days per week with competitions during the week and on weekends.Stipends range from $3,000 to $10,000 depending on position and experience.
