Engineer II - Mechanical (Commercial Space Systems)

Overview

:

The Engineer II - Mechanical is responsible for designing products to meet customer's requirements including all design, functional, material, and test requirements from the customer's component and sub-tier specifications. The specific assignments and responsibilities will be consistent with the level of experience of the engineer. Regular interaction required with other engineers and test technicians as well as frequent contact with suppliers, contractors, and customers. Occasional light travel may be involved.

Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities

:

Coordinating the creation of a preliminary bill of material in the business system and verifying its accuracyCreate development testing requirements, development test instructions, and release of drawings for development hardwareMaintain ongoing surveillance of customer-driven changes, with written notification to Contracts Administrator or Program Manager, including program impact assessmentEnsure accuracy of all drawings/documents on the project, except purely drafting technique issues. This includes tolerance stack-upsCommunicate technical and schedule problems, in a timely manner, to Engineering Manager / Director, Contracts Administrator, and Program Manager when applicableManage all duties per ISO 9000: Procedure 4.1 Design ControlSupervision/oversight of engineering assistants, documentation personnel, design and test personnel on project activities as requiredAdditional Duties / Responsibilities

Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirementsFoster a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organizationActively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goalsConsistently demonstrate commitment to company valuesKeep management informed of area activities and of any significant problemsAssume responsibility for related duties as required or assignedWork Environment

This job interacts in a professional office environment, Engineering Lab, and manufacturing environments. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, hand tools, test equipment, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing, ESD and foot protection (as required).This is a full-time position. Overtime and weekend may be required as job duties demand.Some travel may be expected for this position (20%) including Test Labs (e.g. EMI), vendor, and customer visits.Minimum Required Qualifications

:

B.S in Engineering is required as a minimum - Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent. Advanced technical degree is desirable for this position.2-5 years design experience with a variety of valves and fluid control devices preferredKnowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic controlsSolid analytical skills are required: stress analysis, heat transfer, fluid flowAbility to solve complex mechanical, static and dynamic problemsKnowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and compressible flowExposure to performing analytical solutions using tools such as ANSYS or Pro-E MechanicaMust work precisely, accurately, and with close attention to all detailsHigh level of mechanical aptitude and knowledgeAdvanced organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslySuperior communication skillsDefense/aerospace experience a plusThis position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance, therefore you must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearanceHighly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.Must be a US CitizenPhysical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the Mechanical Engineer is regularly required to see, talk and hear.The Mechanical Engineer is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.The Mechanical Engineer is frequently required to sit at length, stand, walk, and move about the facility.The Mechanical Engineer may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds

This position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.
