Job DescriptionTitle: Folder/Gluer OperatorReports to: Technical ManagerSummary: Operates Specialized Machine to produce "Best In Class" packaging for domestic and international use.Responsibilities:Operates Gluer/Folder Machine to develop end-result printed material in accordance with customer specifications:Operate gluer machine, troubleshoot and monitor operation.Prepares gluer by performing a variety of tasks to produce a consistent, high quality product by precise control of feeding, take over and inverting of batches of blanks, setting automatic loading and constant blank heights maintaining steady and precise feeding at all speeds making adjustments as needed to exceed customer expectation.By performing a variety of make ready tasks utilizing quick and easy settings for high productivity and precision operations, resolves any defects and adjustments to produce a high quality product.Oversees General Technicians working on equipment.Makes adjustments, clears jams, while processing product, maintaining speed and quality. Performs preventative maintenance on machinery.Ensures efficient and rapid make ready, with unloading and loading.QUALITY: Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy. Makes sure jobs are complete and error free. Ensures finished product exceeds customer expectations.Ensure all checklists are completed.Support and communicate all ISO 9001-2000 standards and quality objectives to the Folder/Gluer Team.EHS AND CLEAN: Ensures complete adherence and compliance to the EHS and Clean policies. Assists team members in maintaining clean and safe environment.Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for safety, personal protection and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.Follows all personal protection procedures by use of appropriate personal protective equipment at all times while in designated areas and specific tasks requiring the use of PPE.Follows established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste.Maintains and wears proper uniform according to company policy.Uses Company provided safety lifting equipment, i.e., hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc.On a regular basis, examines work areas to keep them in a safe and neat condition.Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.Effectively demonstrates the ability to maintain work area in a safe and proper working order coaching Crew in safe work practices.COMMUNICATIONS: Interacts with the team and co-workers in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance.Communicates accurate information to all team members in a professional and courteous manner that conveys a willingness to assist.Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.LEADERSHIP: Create and maintain a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.Develop the team and encourage each member to do what needs to be done, correctly and efficiently. Get it right the first time. Communicates regularly with team toward goals and required results, providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when goals or results are not met. Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provide training as required. Consistently uses appropriate established channels of communication. Conduct team meetings when necessary.Must be able to perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.Requirements:High School diploma (or GED). Minimum of 3 years of Gluer equipment operation. Must have interpersonal and communication skills.Must possess basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages, weights and measures.Physical Demands:This position requires prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking. Frequent lifting in excess of 60 lbs is required. Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment in a safe manner. Manual dexterity is required. Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus as well as good eye-hand coordination.
