Responsibilities:

JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective ATA, A Blue Halo Company, is looking for an experienced electronics technician to join our team. Under the direction of the Advanced Space Power thrust area, a mid-level space electronics technician will provide technical support to continue research and development of photovoltaic technologies for space applications.

Essential Functions:

Recommend and implement improvements to laboratory test systems and capabilities Collaborate with research and development team to design and conduct experiments on various photovoltaic technologies Use chemical processes to construct photovoltaic test devices Soldering hardware components and solar cells Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain performance of laboratory equipment Design and build test equipment/fixtures to suit experimental research Optoelectronic characterization of photovoltaic devices and components through a variety of testing, i.e. dark and light IV performance, quantum efficiency, photoluminescence, reflectance, and reliability testing Mentor summer scholar students and visiting technicians in lab capabilities, safety, and best practices Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Work Environment This job operates in professional/secure office & laboratory environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and other equipment as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are nominally Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience Extensive soldering experience Experience mixing and handling chemical solutions and adhesives Functional understanding of solar cells and their component materials Ability to test and characterize solar cell performance Bachelors degree or on development path to achieve advanced technical degree Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant laboratory technician role A U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security Clearance Preferred Education and Experience: Experience with space flight hardware (including environmental requirements, standards, materials, etc.) Experience with spectrometers, reflectometers, single and multi-zone UV simulators, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), contact welder, thermal cycling chambers, vacuum chambers, and photoluminescence tools Basic familiarity with LabVIEW and Microsoft Office Primary Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico #LI-GY1 Company Overview: Applied Technology Associates (ATA), a BlueHalo company, is an advanced technology and engineering services company specializing in solutions and services for laser communications, acquisition, tracking, and pointing, space situational awareness, advanced radio frequency (RF) systems, and small satellite applications.
