Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 243 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.The Kapi‘olani Child Life Services helps our young patients cope constructively with hospitalization and treatment processes since these can be a frightening and confusing experience for children and their families. The Child Life team of professionals aims to provide comprehensive care through special activities like medical play, preoperative tours and pre-procedural teaching to help children deal with their treatment and hospital stay.If you enjoy working with children, you could provide life-changing support to hospitalized pediatric patients and their families as our next Child Life Specialist. In this role, you will provide direct services to pediatric patients; coordinate educational programs and conduct professional in-services. You will also assist the Child Life Services manager in assessing child life needs and providing input on program development. NoMinimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or related field. Certified Child Life Specialist by the Child Life Council (must be obtained within six—6—months of hire). Current American Heart Association Heart Saver – AED CPR card. Completion of Child Life or Child Development internship, fellowship, or practicum of 480 hours.Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or related field. Certified Child life Specialist by the Child Life Council. Membership in the Child Life Council. Two (2) years experience as a Child Life Specialist in an acute care pediatric setting.
