OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONTransportation Engineer | Boston, MAVHB’s growing Boston, MA office is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and traffic/civil engineers on a variety of public, private-sector and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including real estate development, municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal lands, and aviation.VHB works with cities, developers, and property owners who want to move complex projects forward. We are at our best when a project requires us to bring together skills in civil engineering, transportation planning and design, urban land planning, survey, and environmental sciences. On projects we combine careful research, assessment, and analysis of existing natural and infrastructure conditions with community and stakeholder outreach to develop innovative plans that create opportunities for economic growth, improved lifestyle, and environmental stewardship. Our transportation practice is focused on planning and design for all modes of travel including complete streets, active transportation, and transit priority on city streets.ResponsibilitiesPlan and design transportation engineering projects.Collaborate with a team of professionals in various transportation-related fields to develop comprehensive mobility solutions, incorporating Complete Street concepts in urban and suburban settings.Conduct comprehensive transportation analyses, including traffic, active transportation, and transit.Execute planning and conceptual design for intersection improvements, multimodal facilities, and transportation corridors.Prepare studies on traffic impact, corridor, and intersection improvements.Conduct research, compile reports, and present findings to clients.Develop engaging figures and data visualizations to effectively communicate concept designs and data analyses.Assist in the development of proposals, scopes of work, and tracking of project budgets.Lead and manage project tasks.Skills and AbilitiesExceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Team-oriented with a strong ability to work independently.Driven to lead and mentor others.Capable of critical and strategic thinking.Self-motivated and disciplined.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or related field5+ years of professional/research experience in the civil/transportation engineering/planning fields; experience at a consulting firm a plusPE preferred or ability to obtain PE in 1 yearExperience with Synchro and HCS requiredExperience with AutoCAD a plusExperience with PTV VISSIM a plusWe are VHB!
