Terrific position within the College of Veterinary Medicine at a healthcare university based in the Southwestern U.S. We are in search of a Professor of Small Animal Surgery. The Professor of Small Animal Surgery will be responsible for providing clinical services to the community within the institution's small animal clinic. The role will consist of clinical, as well as, teaching and research work. Typical responsibilities will include receiving new cases, performing surgeries, teaching students in clinical and lecture settings, providing mentorship, and conducting research. The position will focus on tenure and clinical work, with the percentage split based on each candidate's interest. The role will be at either the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level, based on experience. DVM or equivalent degree required. Board certification or eligibility to obtain a certification is required. Salary range gladly provided upon request. Relocation assistance provided by the organization if needed.
Responsibilities:
Manage the institution's small animal clinic, providing clinical services to the community and teaching students
Focus on the clinical and research aspects of veterinary medicine (% of each is flexible based on a candidate's interest)
Mentor students and junior faculty
Receive new clinical cases, perform surgeries, and oversee rounds with interns and students
Serve on institutional committees, teach seminars/lectures, and conduct research
Participate in clinical emergencies, as needed
Qualifications:
Experience working in a clinical setting providing surgery; research and teaching experience a plus
DVM or equivalent degree required
Board certification, or eligibility, by ACVS or ECVS
Ability to operate in a collaborative teaching environment
Excellent communication skills
