Felton offers a dynamic, challenging, and supportive work environment where staff is encouraged to increase their skills and enter new domains.Position OverviewReporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger management and overseeing routine accounting operations for the organization and the entities for which it provides accounting services. Oversight includes GL reconciliations, journal entries, monthly contract billings, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end close. Additional responsibilities include monitoring program budgets and agency cash flow, preparing financial statements, and assisting with the annual agency audit and various program audits. Support the Controller with other duties and special projects.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Oversee the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable and general ledger adjustmentsAssist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management, budget and accountingSupervise all accounting functions up to and including preparation of financial statementsManage contract billings, allocations, and contract indirect cost allocations, as well as analysis on contract billings and other expensesEnsure an accurate and timely monthly and year-end close along with timely reporting of all monthly financial informationSupport the ControllerManage the daily activities of the accounting departmentMeet financial accounting objectives and perform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance/Business AdministrationMinimum of five years of experience in broad accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivableSupervisory experience, a plusNonprofit experience preferred, but not requiredProven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles (GAAP), practices, standards, laws and regulationsProficiency in MS Office Suite and accounting software, with advanced working knowledge of ExcelAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and resultsGood verbal and written communication skillsAdditional InformationJob Title: Accounting ManagerDivision: Fiscal Department, Administration Headquarters, Alameda, CAReports to: ControllerSEND RESUMES TO: jobs@felton.org
