Job Summary:
You will be joining a small and dynamic team working together to support the preparation and development of technical and commercial proposals in support of the Business Development and Sales Mangers for their assigned regions. Prior to the submission of a proposal/bid, the candidate would develop all process designs, guarantees & specifications for the projects, review drawings & specifications, develop bid sheets that contain all detailed costs for each project accurately. Once awarded, you will be responsible for completing all internal processes before the project is transferred to project execution team. Additionally, you will be applying process engineering skills while supporting basic functions related to the design of water and/or wastewater treatment systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide applications engineering and sales support for the development of technical and commercial proposals.
Work on moderate to advanced complex customer process solutions.
Operate independently to determine proper design and approach for solving customer requirements and may supervise or work alongside a junior level engineer.
Lead proposal activities and be willing to engage other technology leads when needed to complete proposal work.
Seek vendor quotes to build competitive and accurate proposal costing.
Preparing cost/pricing data, technical data, quotations, and technical proposals.
Ensures all designs are in conformance with RFQ specifications & drawings.
Work together with other departments to complete, check, and analyze proposals.
Executes specific tasks related to process and general engineering functions when required.
Delivers tasks to meet proposal schedules.
Supports the development and maintenance of worksheets, design spreadsheets, proposal templates, etc.
Ability to handover the awarded project to the project execution by clearly identifying what was sold, and resolve conflicts between proposal and P.O. regarding price, scope, and delivery schedule as necessary.
Provides post-sale support as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with End-Users, EPCs, consulting engineers, distributors, sales managers, and suppliers.
Demonstrates critical thinking/problem solving techniques in execution of tasks and ability to multi-task.
Detail oriented and ability to read and interpret tender requirements, engineering specifications and engineering drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, GAs etc.)
Strong applications/process knowledge (design, sizing, estimation, etc.) of key process unit operations such as Clarifiers, Filters, Membranes - UF, NF, RO, Ion Exchange, EDI, MBR, MBBR, etc.)
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to demonstrate teamwork in multi-cultural setting is critical
Demonstrate effective planning and data analysis
Demonstrate critical thinking/problem solving techniques in execution of tasks
Demonstrate a willingness and interest to learn new engineering concepts and procedures
Demonstrate a sound understanding of water/wastewater treatment principles and their application in different industries.
Negotiate with suppliers on both technical and commercial aspects.
Demonstrate strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel, Word, Adobe PDF and AutoCAD
Learn and demonstrate skills in sizing software (Membranes, Ion Exchange, etc)
Bilingual or Multi-lingual fluency is a major asset, such as Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
7+ years of application and proposal engineering experience in the water/wastewater industry or a related industry
