Resumes must be in DD/MMM/YYYY format.The Air Force Research Laboratory’s Atomic Long-range Systems branch (AFRL/RVBN) seeks a highly motivated and experienced mid-career professional to lead data analysis efforts supporting hardware ground/flight testing, modeling and simulation efforts and system/subsystem performance estimations (pre and post). Primary focus will be identifying the tools required and establishing and implementing the engineering/analysis processes needed across a range of nuclear R&D efforts. These will directly support requirements and system architecture development of experimental nuclear systems as well as test planning.Position duties include, but are not limited to:Develop and utilize tools (Matlab, STK, etc.) to support system and subsystem performance analyses (Covariance and Monte Carlo).Develop Matlab and Python (or other language) tools to process and analyze “big data” sets of both simulated and flight strategic system R&D data.6-DOF Trajectory modeling and calculation of the flight performance parameters, including dynamic pressure, heating rate, drag, and energy depletion rate.Support systems engineering in the implementation of all of the test requirements, test plan data, procedure data, and test results data.Participate in test planning for qualification and future system studies.Serve as a technical interface between RVBN, stakeholders, contractors, end-users, suppliers, and test organizations.Support creation and maintenance of flight models for development and integration efforts on current and future programs.TeleworkYes, this position is eligible for telework opportunities; as determined by agency policy.Remote Work (CONUS)No, this position is not approved for remote work.Required QualificationsUS CitizenshipBachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field from an accredited academic institution.Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DR-02/GS-13 or equivalent grade level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Demonstrated experience in data analysis of large engineering, complex assembly, research, and/or development programs.Strong math/statistics education or experience.Significant knowledge of analysis tools (SW) and practices utilized for complex systems.Experience in error covariance analysis methods, Monte Carlo analysis, and high accuracy inertial measurement system modeling and analysis.Familiarity with relevant classification guidance and demonstrated commitment to USAF goals in upholding safeguards for classified information.Applicants must currently hold, or have the ability to obtain, a DOD TS/SCI clearance.Desired QualificationsKnowledge of launch vehicle and/or strategic missile guidance, navigation, and control principles from guidance system turn-on, ground operations, through launch and payload insertion.Experience and knowledge in principles of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) with an understanding of SysML and/or DoDAF.Experience with testing of integrated complex mission systems including space, ground, strategic and other system elements.Effective communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, necessary to present, explain, and advise technical/program management and/or external sponsors.Ability to promote and maintain productive relationships across directorates, with other laboratories, and with personnel from external entities.Familiarity with basic principles associated with the design, development, qualification, certification, assembly, production, surveillance, and/or testing of nuclear components or delivery systems.(Requisition No. 20852)Series0801, 0861, 1301, 1310, 1501, 1515, 1529, 1530
