is seeking talent for a broadly experienced

Senior Data Scientist

to join its team. This individual in this role will play a critical role in developing and implementing Natural Language Processing (NLP) and web scraping solutions to support the broad protective mission.

Responsibilities:

Modeling: Lead the development and implementation of NLP algorithms & models to drive key mission use cases.

Data mining: Utilize NLP technologies to extract insights from internal data sources, including a mix of structured and unstructured data.

Solution & System Development: Build and improve an automated threat-screening application that helps intelligence analysts consume, analyze, and escalate content.

R&D: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in NLP/NLU/NLG and identify appropriate business use cases to apply them. Likewise, stay abreast of any advances in web scraping techniques/challenges.

Technical leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and operations teams, to gather requirements and formulate them into feasible solutions for the unit.

Communication: Lead interactions with operational and technical stakeholders to present findings, insights, and recommendations clearly and concisely, both verbally and through reports or presentations.

Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior data scientists, data analysts, and/or software engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Requirements:

5+ years of proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing AI/ML solutions, with at least 3 years in NLP models and algorithms.

Proficiency in Python programming language, and expertise in relevant NLP and deep learning libraries and frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spacy, langchain).

Demonstrated experience developing and applying NLP techniques (e.g. LLM, transformers, embeddings, topic models) to relevant use cases (NER, Q&A, document summarization/classification, text generation, sentiment analysis, semantic search).

Familiarity with web scraping tools and strategies, including bulk API ingestion as well as HTML parsing approaches (e.g. Selenium, Beautifulsoup).

Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (e.g. AWS) and big data processing tools (e.g. Apache Spark).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions.

Strong sense of curiosity and ability to self-learn; willingness to research, design, test & productize novel solutions and learn from open-ended experiments.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.

Preferred:

5+ years of experience designing, developing, evaluating, and deploying real-time ML/NLP solutions.

Strong experience building predictive classifier models.

Strong experience working with data wrangling packages like pandas.

Experience with GPU-based model training and inference infrastructure and architecture.

Experience with responsible/trustworthy AI methodologies in NLP solutions.

Experience with law enforcement is a plus.

Skill Sets Anticipated:

U.S. Citizenship required.

Public Trust Clearance.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to display excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills, both written and oral, within a team environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with web scraping tools and strategies.

Proficiency in Python programming language and relevant NLP and deep learning libraries.

Required Education

– bachelor’s or master’s degree in one or more of the disciplines described.

Period of Performance

– Immediate Hire, 80% Remote.

15 business days PTO (3 weeks) does not include government holidays.

11 Government based on OPM schedule.

Place of Performance - Arlington, VA

The position requires 1 day onsite per customer request per week.

Security Requirements :

All personnel, including the support required by this initiative,

must be United States Citizens

and must meet the DOJ (Department of Justice) Residency Requirement.

The minimum investigation required is to be cleared for a US Government Security Eligible

Public Trust

clearance.

Eligible to receive a Top-Secret Clearance.

Equipment furnished : The government/client will provide equipment to complete the job.
