Who We Are:Since 1985, BHCHP’s mission has been to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community’s most vulnerable—and most resilient—citizens.From our earliest days as a program, we have always sought to do work that is transformational: recognizing our shared humanity; centering dignity, compassion, mutual respect and supporting the right of every individual to access the highest levels of health care and every staff member to reach their fullest potential. Please Click Here .Job Summary:Our new Patient Benefits Coordinator – Per Diem, will be crucial to the timely and accurate analysis of patients’ mandated documentation. Specifically, you’ll support our clinicians around issues of appointment scheduling, patient registration and benefit assistance. You will also serve as back-up for patient intake at various outreach sites and the referral department, as needed.Responsibilities:Promptly review insurance eligibility, process required documentation and provide benefits assistance for all patients presenting on a scheduled or walk-in basisRecord all insurance and demographic information in an accurate and timely mannerAssist patients with completion of Mass Health or any other benefit applicationsCheck In and or schedule patients for appointmentsAssist in fielding Clinic phone callsManage specialty medical and behavioral health referrals when neededQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalency.Strong computer skills including working knowledge of P.C. spreadsheet software (Excel) and familiarity with Epic, MMIS, and NEHEN patient eligibility system2 years of benefits experience in a clinical environment preferredAble to work with indirect supervision and initiativeAttention to detail along with ability to follow program policy and best practicesCooperates and maintains good rapport with BHCHP staff, patients and visitorsAbility to learn and adapt in a dynamic environmentBilingual in Spanish and English preferredCompensation:Compensation is $22.00 per hour.Does this amazing opportunity interest you?
