Job Summary
We are seeking a Security Engineer to join a highly motivated team of IA and security specialists who support the C5ISC-Keaneysville/FINCEN location of the US Coast Guard. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the C5ISC Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) team. The Security Engineer will report directly to the Cyber Operations (CyberOps) Project Manager while independently leading or assisting in conducting enterprise and system-level Security Engineering tasks.
This is a hybrid position that will require the individual to be in proximity to either USCG C5ISC Kearneysville in West Virginia or to USCG Base Portsmouth in Virginia. Will be required to go on base for SIPR access and may be asked to be on site up to 2 days a week.
Position: Full-Time
Location: up to 2 days per week work onsite at Kearneysville, WV or Portsmouth in Virginia
Clearance: Secret (Required)
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required
Responsibilities
Performing site scoping activities such as.
Discovery and identification of unknown/unsupported/unaccredited assets
Review and refinement of IA asset management data
Work with contract, government, and US Coast Guard POCs to identify and document pertinent information related to CCRI inspections
Perform collection and maintenance of required inspection artifacts
Assist in performing the post inspection POA&M processes
Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation related to CCRIs
Performs reviews and analysis of vulnerability scanning results from the ACAS (Nessus) system and to assist in their resolution
Performs reviews and analysis of Endpoint Security (HBSS) compliance and rogue reports and works to resolve issues
All tasking will be in both NIPR and SIPR environments
Performs other Information Assurance and Information
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
Four (4) or more years IT engineering/network security/information assurance experience demonstrating successful command of technical and analytical skills and abilities described above or equivalent experience
One (1) or more years of experience independently planning and conducting the duties described for the position.
Candidate is required to have at a minimum IAT Level II certification in accordance with the DoD 8570.1 M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience with network scanning tools: Tenable Nessus, Tenable Security Center.
Experience with IAVMs, DISA STIGs, POA&Ms, and related Federal/DoD policies and regulation.
Basic knowledge of common Operating Systems to include, Windows 10, Unix, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Cisco Routers, Firewalls, Proxies, and Switches.
Linux/Unix command line and Windows Server administrator experience desired.
Strong knowledge of networking and common network protocols, services, server roles and ability to work within registry, group policy,
Background in some or all the following: Networking, Security Engineering, Systems Engineering, Configuration Management.
Knowledge of NIST RMF process to include DHS/DoD security and risk management policies and procedures.
Excellent customer/client focus, with the ability to manage expectations appropriately, provide a superior customer/client experience and build long-term relationships.
Within commuting distance to either USCG C5ISC-Kearneysville or USCG Base Portsmouth
Experience with MS Office and MS Teams
Experience with NIST 800-53; Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations
Experience with eMASS
