Sterile Core Technician - Full Time

Job Description
To emulate the mission, vision, and values of Jennie Stuart Health. According to established professional standards and hospital procedures: assists in receiving, decontaminating, cleaning, disinfection, preparing, assembling, packaging, sterilizing, dating, storing, controlling inventory, distributing, and issuing of sterile medical supplies and equipment. Advises users on availability and use of sterile supplies and equipment, enforces and adheres to strict aseptic technique and practices universal precautions at all times. Plays a predominate role in prevention of hospital cross-infection.
•Decontaminates reusable medical supplies and equipment, using appropriate methods.
•Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles equipment.
•Inspects items for gross contamination after presterilization.
•Prepares trays and sets.
•Packages items to protect points, cutting edges, and delicate instruments and to ensure effective penetration medium.
•Selects appropriate methods for sterilizing.
•Loads, unloads, and operates sterilizers and other related equipment.
•Adheres to recommended parameters for each sterilizer and records chemical, mechanical, and biological results and informs supervisor of any positive test results.
•Demonstrates care of non-critical equipment, to include cleaning, inspection, storing, testing, and issuing to nursing units.
•Inspects sterilized items for indication of proper sterilization, labels items to show sterilization date, stores items to preserve sterile conditions.
•Assembles instrument sets without error.
•Restock Crash Carts, ensuring 100% compliance with established policies and inventory control.
•Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Minimum Education:
•High School Graduate or Equivalent.
•Certification required within one year of employment CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician)
Required Experience
Minimum Work Experience:
•One year Central Sterile Supply/Sterile Processing or Operating Room preferred but not required.
