Position Overview
This is a regular student technical position in which the student will provide customer service to the UCO community via phone, email, online portal, and in person for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
Hours per Week20 - 25 hours per week (flexible schedule).Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 7:30pm.Friday: 7:30am - 6:00pm.Saturday - Sunday: 1:00pm - 6:00pm.College/Department Overview
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) strives to enhance learning, improve service and communication, and increase student, faculty, staff, and community access to useful information through the application of technology. Information Technology at UCO provides computing, networking, e-learning, telephone, training, and support services to students, faculty, staff and the University community. Perform computer and customer service related duties in an office setting. Typical duties may include but are not limited to typing, filing, answering telephones, and providing customer service assistance.
Department Specific Job Functions
Duties include answering phones, troubleshooting computer related issues, documenting incidents/requests, application support, and other duties as directed by supervisor.
Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters : All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester : Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.
Enrollment Exception : If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Required
The desired Candidate must be responsible and reliable.Experience in delivering high quality customer service that includes a grasp on professional communication and telephone etiquette.Experience working with Windows, Macintosh, iPhones, and Android devices.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
A high level of technical skills not required, but prefer candidates understand the basics of troubleshooting and are able to intelligently work with clients on various issues.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work well with others on a team.
