Overview:Princeton University is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, energetic, and flexible nursing professional to serve as a float nurse within University Health Services. The position entails being cross-trained to support the nursing roles within Medical Services: sexual health & wellness, travel & immunizations, front desk triage, urgent care, and Infirmary Services. Outpatient Services are open M-F (with some Saturdays) throughout the year, while the Infirmary Services is open August through May.The position is a 70% duty time, 24-32 hours per week. The shift is day shift (7a-3p) and includes every other weekend.University Health Services (UHS) at Princeton University is a fully accredited (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, or AAAHC) health care facility. We aspire to develop the mindsets, knowledge and abilities to build equitable and inclusive systems, teams and cultureResponsibilities:Telephone & in-person triage according to pre-determined protocolsProvides independent nurse appointments for students not requiring a provider visit (sexually transmitted infections testing, birth control discussions, options counseling,emergency contraception, vaccine administration, allergy immunotherapy injections)Provides support to Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician AssistantsEvaluates patients with urgent complaints and monitors the patient until a disposition or medical evaluation occursGives treatments, medicationsProvides patient educationProvides point of care testing

Qualifications:Essential QualificationsNew Jersey state licensure as a professional Registered Nurse (in good standing)5 years of nursing experience in a hospital or college health setting.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degreeTriage and/or emergency department experienceCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications.Skilled in basic nursing duties including, but not limited to venipuncture, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections; administering nebulizer treatments, wound care, and Infection Prevention measures.Ability to independently perform detailed physical assessments and recognize normal and abnormal signs and symptoms.Ability to dispense all treatment and medication prescribed in accordance with pre-determined protocols.Ability to physically move and ambulate patients, move freely throughout the unit, and stand for periods of time.Skilled in independent decision making.Ability to clearly and comfortably delegate tasks to others.Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure.Utilizes human and material resources effectively and efficiently.Customer service oriented.
