Sigma Healthcare staffing is looking for an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist to work at our client's hospital in Chicago.

Summary:

Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) deliver respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.

Responsibilities:Respiratory Therapists provide care to patients based on the application of scientific respiratory therapy principles. Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist include (but are not limited to):

Sets up and operates devices, such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment.Provides emergency care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.Determines requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, and medication and dosages.Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.Performs pulmonary function and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results in therapy.Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assist or instruct patients in performance of breathing exercises.Conducts tests, such as EKGs, stress testing, and lung capacity tests.Educates patients and their families about their conditions and teaches appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.Maintains charts that contain patients' pertinent identification and therapy information, in a neat and timely fashion.Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.Requirements:

BLS Provider obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or client accepted.Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained within 4 Months (120 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support preferred.American Heart Association or client accepted.Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.American Heart Association or client accepted.Respiratory Therapist specializing in Critical Care credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.Respiratory Therapist specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred. Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) from National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred.Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.NBRC RRT/CRT Certified, BLS/NRP and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist by NBRC preferably.1 Year experience in ICU/NICU.Open to new RRT graduates to train.
