Job Purpose

As a 2024 Spring Software Engineering Co-op you will help to deliver custom control solutions for a wide variety of applications. This includes the aiding in the development and validation of controls algorithms for a variety of products.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Following specifications and aiding more senior engineers in systems analysis, modeling, simulation and implementation (applications include passenger car, heavy-duty and hybrid vehicles, as well as renewable energy and energy storage systems.

Working on multiple projects within project constraints, including scope and timing, to deliver engineering work according to Dana Novi Technical Center, client, and program management requirements.

The skills, knowledge, and abilities we look for in our Intern Engineers include:

Working towards a Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering (Or working towards Master's degree) A desire to participate in developing embedded control systems for transportation The ability to learn on-the-job Ability to effectively multitask Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills Strong problem solving, analytical, and listening skills (familiarity with 8D or equivalent process highly desirable) The ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic organization

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:

Embedded C software development, especially for automotive applications Full V-cycle development experience from requirements to acceptance testing Microcontrollers, on-target debuggers, low level drivers, embedded operating systems (RTOS), and bootloaders Automotive development and calibration tools (CANalyzer, CANape, ATI Vision, ETAS INCA) Software process knowledge/experience (e.g., AUTOSAR, ASPICE, ISO 26262) Controls and model-based development with rapid prototyping tools (MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, MicroAutoBox, TargetLink, MotoTron, MotoHawk) Model-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and software-in-the-loop simulation, testing, and validation of automotive ECUs CAN communications and diagnostics protocols (CCP, J1939, UDS, OBDII)
