Sr. Staff Software Engineer, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, Michigan. Act as the main interface to the overall project and plan software development for the project team, providing technical support to different functioning groups in the project team including mechanical, electrical, hardware, and vehicle testing, which may be globally distributed. Plan and monitor software tasks, including external supplier deliveries and on-time customer milestone releases throughout the entire software lifecycle. Support work breakdowns and global resource allocation planning and ensure project expenses are within the budget allocated for software development. Lead global Software development teams in analyzing customer specifications and ensuring these requirements are documented, traced, and incorporated into the product design, and manage customer deliverables. Support acquisition of new projects by providing effort and cost estimation related to software development as well as high level architecture design concept. Assist in product reviews and work with global software development teams to prioritize issues using JIRA. Work closely with the Project Architect team to identify the design changes and support the team in Agile development. Provide technical direction to the Instrument Cluster/Head-up Display (HUD) software development team and ensure continuous improvements in product by implementing the identified measures or bringing about the necessary decisions. Conduct root cause analysis of failures in the product and develop corrective action plan with the engineering team by participating in software simulation testing and vehicle testing to reproduce the failures and validate the issue fix using automotive communication protocols such as CAN, CAN FD, and Automotive Test Tools such as Vector CANoe and Renesas E1 debugger with GHS Multi tools. Follow defined software process (ASPICE) to ensure quality software is delivered, lead project through quality tollgates, and support defect monitoring and risk assessments. Ensure the project adheres to AutoSAR standard and work with functional safety team to define the requirements for ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level -- ISO 26262 standards) to reduce risk for hardware and software safety.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent. Requires five (5) years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry to include five (5) years: development experience with 8-32 bit microcontrollers including low-level device drivers development for Data Communication protocol such as UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN in embedded C programming language; utilizing Software Configuration Management systems including MKS, Tortoise SVN, JIRA, or Rational Team Concert (RTC); utilizing Requirement Management tools including IBM Doors; four (4) years: project management experience leading cross-functional teams for Classic & Adaptive AutoSAR Platform projects including project planning and execution, KPI monitoring and control, delivery management, and program and client expectation management; working on software development projects in an internationally distributed team and company, while adhering to company standards; three (3) years: utilizing project scheduling tool Microsoft Project (MPP); utilizing Agile/SCRUM, Waterfall methodologies, and V- Model; utilizing CAN logging tools; two (2) years: deriving safety requirements and performing safety analysis (DFMEA/DFA) on high-level design in accordance with ISO26262 functional safety standards (ASIL); and one (1) year: application development on infotainment systems including application development for Instrument Cluster based on AutoSAR architecture and development of UDS diagnostics using Mentor Graphics Volcano VSx tool chain.
