Position Details:Loader - Screen Print- Savannah, GALocation: Savannah, GA, 31401 (Onsite)Duration: 3 months(contract-to-hire)Pay rate: $18/hr on W2 with limited benefits OverviewThe loader position is the operator position for the Screen Print Production Department. The person hired for this position will be responsible for carefully putting the garments on the machine to receive the correct design, with the correct placement and location on the garment. This task requires the garment to be placed accurately every time and at a productive pace based on a minimum average expectation of 500 shirts/hour. This position requires the individual to be able to set up the machine efficiently and accurately at a minimum standard of 5 minutes per screen. This position sets the pace for all daily production performed on their assigned machine, carefully observing all personnel and mechanical functions to ensure consistency and reporting any variances to their line supervisor. This position performs and/or assists in all set-ups and teardowns of jobs, performs the operation of the assigned machine, and performs cleaning throughout the shift. Essential Functions Be able to work the scheduled hours and be willing to work overtime if needed. Be present at the assigned workstation once clocked in. Do not leave the workstation without first letting a supervisor know. Learn, understand, and practice all safety measures once assigned to a press. Follow the policies and procedures of the department and company. Load shirts onto the machine. Must be able to load shirts straight on the pallet and in the correct placement. Must be able to load the garment without leaving wrinkles or lint in the print area. Must be able to load the press in automatic mode on a minimum 6-second interval. Must have an understanding of how to operate the control panel. Must know the correct design and location that is being printed on the shirts for each order. Must not damage shirts in any way. Must have situational awareness to know when to stop the machine for quality and safety issues. Must be able to be in this position performing these functions for several hours at a time. This position requires twisting and turning. This position requires eye-hand coordination. This is a repetitive motion position. Apply all points of Quality Control previously learned at the Stacker position. Must look for and find flaws/defects with the garment. Notify the line supervisor of any detected issue with print quality, machine malfunction, or issue that creates a stoppage in production. Must be able to determine the amount of spray adhesive needed to insure the shirts are properly adhered to the pallet and instruct unloader as needed. Must be able to repair shirts that can be repaired using the tools and procedures given. Clean the work area daily. Wipe up any ink that is dropped on the equipment or work area immediately. Sweep the floor and pick up debris or trash as it accumulates. Wipe off tables and carts used for shirts. Wipe off ink buckets, ink carts, and ink shelves. Clean tools used for printing. Screens Squeegees Floodbars Mixing tools Pallets Take out trash as needed. Perform set-ups and teardowns on all jobs or assist when applicable. Stage correct shirts for each order being set up to be printed. Stage completed shirts at the correct machine to complete the order or designated area. Clean around machinery when instructed. This requires employees to wipe ink and adhesive off of the printing presses, workstations, ink buckets, and other tools used during the shift. Be willing to cross-train in other positions or departments as needed. Must be able to perform the stacker and unloader positions. Competencies Team oriented. Communication. Attention to detail. Supervisory Responsibility This position requires employees to give instructions to unloaders and stackers throughout the day on the tasks which affect the machines productivity and efficiency. This is not a supervisory position unless employee is considered a systems expert and is assigned the role of trainer for that position. At which time, they will be given developmental responsibilities for trainees. This would include showing new employee how to physically perform the task, review essential functions, observe employee attempting the physical function, pointing out discrepancies with the performance of the functions, alerting trainee when issues are overlooked and informing their immediate supervisor of the progress. Work Environment This job operates in a warehouse manufacturing environment around heavy stationary equipment with moving parts and some material handling equipment. The environment can be warm at times with limited air conditioning and/or air flow. This environment can be dusty due to airborne lint from the garments and adhesives used to manufacture the garments. Some chemicals are used for cleaning that require gloves and safety goggles. There are odors generated from the products we use and produce that may be unpleasant on a daily basis. You will get ink, lint and adhesive on your skin and clothing.
