Job Overview:

The Senior Data Engineer innovates, evaluates, and enhances data solutions enabling seamless delivery of data and analytical products to constituents of the Wholesale Credit Risk Center. This position is responsible for operating the collection, parsing, managing, and analysis of large sets of wholesale and financial data for Federal Reserve wholesale credit efforts and critically influencing partner initiatives. This role maintains, designs, and develops data pipelines (data ingestion and ETL processes) that are relevant to changing demands, repeatable, and aligned with data user needs. This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for coordinating and maintaining critically used licensed and regulatory wholesale credit data on behalf of the Federal Reserve System, including management of the Wholesale Credit Risk Center’s data mart and related infrastructure. The team creates and maintains wholesale credit analytics to support analytics and supervisory stress testing to directly impact supervision and participates on supervisory assessments of risk management and modeling performed by financial institutions. The level of work required is advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This job does not have any direct reports but may be assigned technical resources on projects when appropriate that would need direction. This job requires the ability to advocate for and upskill colleagues in technical processes.

Wholesale Credit Risk Center Overview:

FRB Chicago’s Wholesale Credit Risk Center (WCRC) serves as the Federal Reserve System’s leading provider of wholesale credit expertise. The WCRC maintains the Federal Reserve System’s largest collection of wholesale credit data for the Federal Reserve System and the related infrastructure. While physically located in Chicago, the WCRC provides support nationally for corporate and commercial real estate analytics to monitor credit conditions and inform supervisory teams and senior management on risk levels and emerging trends across industry, market, and supervisory information. In addition, the group directly performs/influences wholesale credit supervisory work at the nation’s largest banks, develops and maintains wholesale credit expected loss models for Dodd Frank Act capital stress testing efforts.

Your Responsibilities:

Leads creation of the data management strategies to support business intelligence efforts for partners across the Federal Reserve SystemOversees data architecture to ensure alignment to business line strategyResearches, analyzes, designs, and proposes IT solutions that are appropriate for the business needsLeads initial strategy and planning phases of initiatives and ensures related business deliverables are communicated clearly and delivered on timeWorks hands on and oversees proof of concepts (POC) tasks to prove out technologies, develop solutions to meet related goals, and guide the associated implementation to ensure successProvide technology and/or data thought leadership on deployed data applications and analytical models to credit analysts and other data consumersLeads development of real-time and batch ETL data processes and ensures related developments are aligned with business needsManages and augments the data pipeline from raw databases to data solution structuresCreates and reviews documentation of data flow diagrams, security access, data quality and data availability across all business systems

Your Background:

Location:

This is a hybrid role. Your presence will be expected at one of the 7th District offices—Chicago, Des Moines or Detroit.

Other Requirements:
