Sr. Network Engineer (Tier III)

VAE is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Must hold an active Secret security clearance. (US Citizenship required)PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designing, maintaining, and operating Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), Wireless, Internet connectivity, and Network SecurityMaintain existing network equipment, installing new equipment in plant environments.Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management.Conduct data captures to obtain network performance information.Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools.Provide input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture.Design solutions, integrate, configure, deploy, test and provide ongoing maintenance for numerous types of network devices, interfaces and methodologies.Configure and optimize the network to connect various front-end and back-end components.Gather needed data to specify system/component performance and interface requirements.Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN's, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE Tunneling, IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate.Must have flexible working hours to be available to support team when needed to include: occasional on call support (typically one week at a time every two months) or additional hours based on mission need.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of network engineering experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.Excellent analytical capabilities including creative problem solving and root cause analysis.Committed to documentation and organization efforts.Capable of multitasking while working in a constantly shifting environment with many moving pieces.Must have a DoD IAT level II baseline certification, prior to start (Sec+).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of proper procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used to install, maintain and repair wireless communications systems and subsystems. Knowledge of electronic and wireless theory including digital, analog, and circuitry.Proficiency with Juniper IOS or other IP/transport specific management tools (EMS) and general practices. Expertise in IP technologies, i.e. Networking architectures and methodologies and Voice Services.Expert Knowledge of IP principles.Proficiency in at least two or more of the following devices: SONUS SBC, Juniper MX5 routers, Juniper SRX firewalls, Juniper EX switches, SONUS SBCs, KG175.Proficiency in at least one of the following tools: SolarWinds or Junos Space.
