Starting Salary Range: I $75,325.00 - $89,662.00

II $83,046.00 - $98,852.00

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for overseeing engineering work activities which provides a broad range of management, contract administration, and engineering services in the management of Development Projects.

EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

Develops administrative and operational plans in conjunction with the department director and assistant director to accomplish completion of engineering projects as efficiently as possible.Primarily reviews and coordinates planning and construction of development projects.Contributes to and manages various types of capital improvement projects from conceptual phase through construction administration.Prepares project status reports based on team reports and feedback.Compiles construction data and coordinates with franchise utility companies to expedite the relocation of utilities.Implements priorities and goals for development projects.Visits project job sites, reviews contractor job progress, and ensures compliance with engineering plans and standards.Provides engineering expertise to resolve construction related conflicts and disputes.Represents the Engineering Department in Development Review Committee meetings and Plat Review Committee meetings with developers and other city staff providing input and expertise concerning public infrastructure.Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required and as directed.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of civil design, plan review, cost estimating, construction management and sequencing of engineering, utilities, right of way, and construction activitiesKnowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to municipal public work projectsKnowledge of current practices for engineering design and cost estimating related to public work projectsKnowledge of professional service and construction contractsKnowledge of City standards and specifications related to constructionAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writing about both technical and nontechnical matters.Skill in project schedulingAbility to read and interpret construction plansSkill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programsAbility to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipmentAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and general publicAbility to identify and resolve problemsAbility to negotiate acceptable solutionsAbility to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodationsAbility to work primarily in an office environmentDEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER I

The physical activity of this position include:

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision.
