Genesis Consulting has an immediate opportunity for an experienced, forward-thinking Functional Business Analyst with a passion for growth and business transformation for a Public Sector client in Fairfax County, Virginia. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Functional Business Analyst will be responsible for documenting business processes and workflows, assessing current system capabilities, and making recommendations for streamlining and optimizing business processes. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and facilitating continuous improvement within our organization. The Business Analyst III will be involved with communicating with stakeholders, working with development teams to understand current system functionality, business processes, and system requirements. Other duties include but may not be limited to:

Working as a liaison among project stakeholders (e.g., Product Owners, Product Managers) in order to elicit, analyze, plan, communicate, and validate requirements.

Documenting Business Processes and Workflows:

Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and understand existing business processes and workflows.

Conduct comprehensive documentation of current processes, including gathering information, interviewing stakeholders, and analyzing existing documentation.

Create detailed process maps, flowcharts, and diagrams to visually represent current processes and workflows.

Evaluate the functionality and effectiveness of existing systems, software, and tools in supporting business processes.

Conduct system analysis and documentation to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

Collaborate with technical teams to gather system requirements and ensure alignment with business process objectives.

Analyze gathered data, process maps, and system capabilities to identify opportunities for streamlining and optimizing business processes.

Develop and propose actionable recommendations to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.

Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize process improvement initiatives based on impact and feasibility.

Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to business process optimization.

Identify opportunities for innovation and suggest new methodologies, tools, or approaches to drive continuous improvement.

Foster a culture of operational excellence by sharing knowledge, conducting workshops, and providing guidance on process-related matters.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Information Technology field focusing on engineering projects with specific Business and UX Design.

Proven experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, specifically in process documentation and optimization.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns.

Proficient in process mapping and documentation techniques, using tools such as Visio or LucidChart.

Familiarity with system analysis, requirements gathering, and software development life cycle (SDLC) concepts.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Detail-oriented mindset, ensuring accuracy and completeness in documenting processes and requirements.

Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Knowledge of project management methodologies and change management principles is a plus.

Experience in using process modeling software or business process management (BPM) tools is desirable.

Agile/Scrum program experience.

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and be able to communicate effectively.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.

Required Certifications:

No required certifications.

SAFe, Agile certifications desired.

Other:

Local to Washington, D.C. preferred. Remote work with on-site work as requested by client.
