to the under-served populations including the formerly homeless and incarcerated, disconnected youth, veterans, and people living with AIDS. Our flagship transitional work program-- Ready, Willing & Able-- integrates paid work, occupational training, and holistic supportive services to facilitate an individual’s return to mainstream society.

This position’s working days are Tuesday through Saturday, including some evening hours.

Support the functioning of facility computer labs and Workforce Development Classes

(80%)Monitor "Open Lab" hours in computer labs

Assist trainees with learning how to navigate computers, the internet, and personal digital devices

Use virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and Google MeetsCreate and recover Gmail accountsCreate Indeed accountsLearn how to navigate Google Classroom for RWA online courses

Support clients in:

Job searching and filling out job applicationsFilling out housing applicationsFiling for unemployment benefitsCompleting RWA coursework in Google ClassroomPursuing training/educational classes outside of RWAMaking appointments and then obtaining and printing directionsNavigating online government agency portalsTracking down and requesting personal documentation (birth certificates, high school diplomas, court documentation, etc.)

Teacher’s Assistant - Support Workforce Development Classes

Computer Skills Class (priority)

Assist with in-person class facilitationAssist with online class orientation sessions

Educational courses (as needed)

TABE TestingAdult Basic Education ClassHigh School Equivalency Prep ClassEducation and Training Tutoring sessions

Monitor utilization of labs for virtual RWA trainingSupport Workforce Development team with administrative tasks

Serve as a knowledgeable member of the Education and Training team who can:

Provide career, vocational, and educational counseling based on clients’ educational and professional qualifications as well as transferable skills.Complete Education and Training intakes with clients, engaging them in the proper workforce development programs and making referrals when necessary

Assist with Workforce Development team projects

Draft and record “How To” videos for the Workforce Development YouTube channelPosition Requirements:

High School DiplomaDesire and ability to work with RWA client baseMust be willing to travel to all residential facilities (locations in Bushwick, Harlem, and Bedstuy)Must be willing to work some evenings and SaturdaysHigh energy level and enthusiasm for the position, Self-motivatedMust possess computer skills, a command of: email, word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Google Platforms (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, Calendar), and Video Conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meets)Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and set priorities within a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal skills and the proven ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant informationAbility to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals and groups
