Position ResponsibilitiesSupervise, train and have input on evaluations of all hourly employees within the department. Administer all rules, programs and procedures that apply to hourly employees. Recommend candidates for hire, promotion, transfer, demotion or release within the area of responsibility.Maintain monthly inventory of all finished goods stored in warehouse(s), and accurately report all daily shipments of finished product, as well as material and equipment receipts. Maintain accurate forms records and files to comply with internal requirements and / or governmental regulations.Communicate with common carriers and arrange for shipment of all inbound and outbound material. This includes procurement of carriers, qualifying these carriers through division traffic, negotiating rates and setting up routing for both over-the-road and rail shipments.Supervise material handling function of finished goods. Analyze the operation to determine better methods which could result in the reduction of damaged goods in storage, transit, or during material handling; provide recommended solutions.Responsible for maintaining established safety and housekeeping standards, and ensuring that all employees are aware of, and follow these standards in the day-to-day operation of the department.Schedule delivery of supplies for the production area, such as lids, pallets, boxes. Maintain daily inventory of these supplies with respect to projected usage and ensure that optimum on-hand levels are maintained. Also develop a customer base for the disposal of non-usable gaylords, pallets, scrap resin, and other supplies / raw materials, to offset costs and minimize disposal charges.Responsible for all operational equipment in the shipping/receiving and warehouse areas, including forklifts, yard tractors, trailers and dock doors. Analyze lease arrangements on a regular basis to determine more effective expenditures, and to realize maximum utilization of equipment. Analyze vendors and negotiate maintenance costs to ensure equipment is in safe, working order on an on-going basis, at the most cost-effective rates available.Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed. Learn new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.Perform other related assignments that may be required by the immediate supervisorPosition RequirementsMinimum two years college; prefer bachelor's degree in Business or Materials Management or equivalent experience. Must be proficient in computers, including MSWord, MSExcel and MFG/Pro.Minimum three years in a supervisory position. Must be familiar with DOT regulations, freight rates, routing, licensing requirements and ICC regulations. Must have strong knowledge of warehousing and inventory systems. Must be able to communicate with customers, suppliers and company personnel to ensure timely and accurate shipments of finished goods and raw materials.OurExpectations
